We're Home

We had an enjoyable time in Utah with Stephen's parents and sister, Kimberly. While we were there Stephen went through the boxes that his parents still have. Here is a picture with a bunch of origami stuff. Tanner had fun with the rejects and so did Vance, but he didn't let us torture him like Tanner did. :) Thanks for letting us come and eat and sleep at your house Jeppsons!

Happy Birthday Eric!

Happy 22nd Birthday to my younger brother, Eric! I can't believe Eric is 22. I'm pretty sure that I'm not that old yet! I remember the day Eric was born. Holly and I were sneaking out to take a pick at our Easter baskets because Eric was born on Easter and we saw the back of someone's head and thought it was my dad sitting on the couch. It was the neighbor lady though that had come to stay with us while my mom was at the hospital having Eric. One of my first memories, by the way. Eric is a great guy. He is majoring in Communications at BYU-Idaho and he returned from his mission from Georgia last summer. Naturally, with being close in age Eric and I are good friends. So I just wanted to shout out a happy birthday to him. :) Here is a picture of Eric and Tanner at Thanksgiving time.

To Utah

We are going to Utah to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jeppson this weekend. Unfortunately we will not be able to visit the Gallands as they are in Washington for Sean's grandmother's funeral.
The picture is just because I like to have pictures with my posts. We'll see you soon Grandma and Grandpa!

Spring?

I thought I would post a picture of the boys playing with this post. It snowed yesterday and overnight, but the sun is out working on melting the snow away. This slide was completely covered a week ago! We're making progress.

Misc.

A couple of thoughts real quick. Vance is doing better on his leg. It is still bothering him and he still is limping around, but he is getting better. We think he just sprained his ankle this time. Also, please feel free to leave comments on my blog- good, bad, indifferent. I like to hear what you all have to say!

Growing Up

Sometimes it hits me more than other times that Tanner is growing up! It is a bittersweet feeling. I know that there are lots of fun times ahead for us, but I will miss my young baby. The one who sleeps through anything, snuggles close to me, hardly cries, depends entirely on me, who can't get into anything, who loves to be swaddled, and who is fresh from heaven. It is fun to watch him grow and learn and that will continue to be fun. Tanner thinks he needs to hold the spoon when I feed him solids. It is cute, but not very effective. He is grabbing and working at getting anything he thinks he wants or needs. He loves water bottles as much as Vance did at that age. He is interacting more with us, he is becoming a little weary of strangers, he is working on getting teeth, he still loves to smile. He is still spits up and he is still a blessing in our lives. I got out Vance's baby book to see his six month old stats. He was actually six and a half months when he went in for his check up so he was a little older (but not much). Vance weighed 25 pounds 9 oz. (100%) and was 29 1/2 inches long (99%) When I get comments about Tanner's size I just think, "Oh, this is nothing!"

Six Month Check Up

Tanner had his six month check up today. We didn't learn anything we don't already know. He is strong, healthy and big! He is still spitting up so we will continuing giving him medicine. It does help somewhat. Tanner weighed in at 21 pounds 3 ounces putting him in the 90% for his weight. However, he has hardly grown longer in the past two months. He didn't even grow a 1/2 inch! He is only 26 inches long putting him in the 30% for his height (he was in the 75% at his last check up). As a result he is looking quite chunky, but still as cute as ever. I predict that in the next three months he will do a lot of growing longer and not much gaining weight. This is my hope anyway! I have a hard time packing around babies when they are over 20 pounds! Tanner had to have shots today. :( Never fun, but he didn't cry much when he was poked so hopefully it won't bother him too much. We shall see!

Brothers

Lately Vance and Tanner have been interacting more and more. Sometimes it is just Vance bullying Tanner (unfortunately). Tanner will be sitting on the floor playing with a toy minding his own business and Vance will come and take the toy from him. Not because he wants it for himself, just because he doesn't want Tanner to have it. Other times he'll go up and push Tanner to the floor when he's sitting There. I am trying to get these behaviors under control. Sometimes however they will entertain each other and that is when it is fun to watch. For example we were at the store on Saturday and I gave Vance a coupon I decided not to use and he turned around and put it on Tanner's carseat and for some reason that got them both laughing. When Vance got bored of the coupon he gave it to Tanner who decided to eat it (of course) not a good idea as Tanner gagged on it.... Today we picked up Stephen from work for lunch and while we were waiting in the car I turned around and started tapping Tanner's hand on Vance's carseat and they looked at each other and giggled at one another. Tanner loves Vance, but it is nice when Vance shows his love for Tanner as well. We're still working on Vance allowing us to take his picture with Tanner as you can see from yesterdays post, but sometimes I can sneak a shot in like I did here a few days ago.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone! We gave Vance his Easter basket this morning. He had fun going through it even though he was a bit on the cranky side today! I put Tanner in the outfit that Vance has worn the previous two Easters (yes, that is right he wore that outfit when he was four months old and again when he was over one and Tanner is here wearing it at six months). Vance really didn't want his picture taken today especially with Tanner, but the last picture was my attempt. The file folder matching game ended up being a good idea. I wasn't sure if Vance would get the concept of matching, but he did. We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Getting ready for Easter

How do you keep the true meaning of Easter with a two-year old? I'm not exactly sure, but this is my attempt. Vance colored a picture with Jesus and the tomb and we cut it out and made this pop up craft using a straw and a paper cup. He had fun with it before he destroyed it. (he is all boy). I also made a file folder matching game about the Resurrection. I am saving that to let him play with tomorrow. The picture I posted has the matching pictures on the folder on the left side, but not the right so you can see what it is like. I found both of these ideas on www.sugardoodle.net which by the way is an awesome website! The site even has these documents so all I had to do was print them off and put them together. I did get Vance an Easter Basket and stuff to put in it. I didn't get Tanner one. I figured he wouldn't care and I just don't know what I would have put in it if I had gotten him one.

Dying Easter Eggs

Yesterday we dyed some eggs. I got out some markers for Vance to draw on the eggs because I wasn't sure if he'd like dying them or not. He colored on one egg but once he saw what the dye did to the egg he was way more interested in doing that. I was going to let him put stickers on the eggs after they were dry, but he didn't want to do that either. This morning I hid the eggs in the living room as a substitute for doing them outside. Vance had a good time finding them and putting them in his Easter Basket. I was going to let him eat an egg but he pretty much thought I was crazy. He did enjoy helping me peel of the shell on one of the eggs though. I have a few more Easter things I am hoping to get to today and over the weekend.

Tanner is six months old

Tanner is six months old today. I can hardly believe he is already that old. He is getting to be such a big boy. I decided that six months old would be a good time to compare how alike (or unlike) my boys look so I put Tanner in the same outfit that I had Vance in at six months and took his picture. For some reason he just wanted to give me open mouth-wide smiles. So what do you think? Do my boys look alike or not? (Tanner is the first picture and Vance is the second)

Mad Tanner

Call me a mean mom if you want, but sometimes Tanner cracks me up when he is mad (not when he is crying however). He can pull some of the funniest faces and who knows why on earth he is not happy. I imagine this time was because he was starting to get tired. I think he yawned a couple of times in the video. I don't know if anyone will enjoy this video as much as I do, but I thought I would share just the same.

Walking

Vance is finally walking on his leg again. He walks with a limp, but I'm just glad he is walking. He can get on and off of all of our furniture too which is nice for me. We have been doing a lot of coloring lately. It seemed to be a good activity to do while he wasn't getting around very well. This leg wasn't hurt nearly as bad as his other one thankfully!

Vance's Room

Okay, I finally got Vance's curtains finished and up in his room so I thought I'd take some pictures of it. At first I thought I would just do his room in a Cars/Trucks theme in general, but the Pixar Cars had so many things available and Vance LOVES it so much that we went with that theme. We were working on making it as cool as possible so he would want to sleep there instead of in our room. Oh, Vance is on his bed in the first picture if you missed that. He does like his room. He points all around and says, "Cars."

Backyard

Last night Stephen decided to shovel off some of the snow on our back patio while it was soft...so he thought. Nope, it was hard as a rock. Between Vance and Stephen they are at least 200 pounds and they could stand on top of the snow pile without it breaking down at all! I hope this picture does justice to what it is still like here. I wanted to have an Easter Egg hunt for Vance this weekend in the backyard...don't think that will be happening... Oh, and yes, I do realize that Vance is outside in the cold with no shoes, socks, and with short sleeves on. We can blame his dad for that one. Really he was just outside long enough to get a picture with dad.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Tanner puts up with a lot. Vance had a headband too, but once Tanner was wearing his I guess he decided it wasn't so cool after all. Hopefully we'll have the chance to do some other fun green things today. Happy St. Patty's Day!

Sunday

Tanner is getting better at eating solids although we aren't quite up to completely replacing a nursing session yet, but hopefully soon. Vance's leg is getting better everyday. Hopefully tomorrow he will decide that he can walk on it. We'll see. Today we decided just to take him to Sacrament Meeting. I think it was a good choice. He loves wearing this hat from his Dad's work and playing with blocks. Yesterday we took my brother, Eric, a birthday cake. His birthday is still a couple weeks away, but it was good to get out of the house and see visit Eric for a while. Vance really likes Eric. In fact when we dropped Eric off Vance wanted to go with him. We are glad Stephen is back in town. He had a really good conference he was away at, but it is nice to have him home again.

Vance singing with Little Einsteins

I wanted to try out the video option on here since I could never figure it out with my old blog. Vance loves the Little Einsteins videos. We have all of the ones that are out so far. This is him singing with one of the songs. Unfortunately, I'm also singing and you can hear me over him since I am holding the camera so please try and ignore me and listen to Vance. He was doing more of the actions to the song before I started video taping as well. I don't know if he wasn't doing them all because I wasn't or for another reason, but at least I caught what I did.

We have a crawler!

Our crawler is not Tanner. It is Vance! This morning he decided that he could crawl around so he has been doing that. We are happy about that. When he hurt his other leg it took him a long time to decide he could crawl so this is good news. He even wanted to get out his table and chairs and he's back to his old habits of eating markers... Today we will be fine at least until we get to bed time. Last night he said the first three word sentence I've heard him say and he repeated over and over as he cried. It was, "I want Dad." Pretty sad, huh? For me anyway, because I got to be the lucky one to tell him that Dad wasn't home. He has forgotten that the first 21 months of his life he wouldn't let his Dad put him to bed, it had to be me. Even up until we move he I did it more often than not. Since we moved however it has been Stephen to put him down every night and apparently I was not a very good substitute. I don't think he would have been happy either way, but with his leg bugging him I think that amplified things. Oh well, we got through it. By the way, Tanner has been really good about all of this. I have been blessed with good babies...so far anyway....

Sad Times

Yes, this is my poor Vance. I will explain this in a minute, first however we need to have a flashback to about three weeks before Tanner was born (just over six months ago). Vance was running through the trailer and tripped over himself and hurt his leg. It may sound strange, but that is what happened. He cried and carried on until he fell asleep for the night. I thought maybe he twisted his ankle. We took him to the doctor the next day and he sent us to get it x-rayed. Anyway, long story short they couldn't see a break so they sent us home with basically no advice. They did tell us to have it x-rayed two weeks later to see if their indeed had been a fracture. We did that (Tanner was a week old at that point) and indeed there had been a fracture. Today Vance was doing his usual running around and he slipped in the kitchen and fell. He laid on the floor crying so I picked him up and tried to comfort him. I could instantly tell his leg was bothering him, however it was his right leg instead of his left this time. He cried himself to sleep and when he woke up from his nap he wouldn't leave the bed. To make that long story short the doctor (different one) couldn't see a break, but sent us home with this air splint and told us that if he still isn't walking on it tomorrow to come back and we'll see if we can figure out what is going on. If he is walking on it he wants him to come back in a week. So there you go. My active little boy currently isn't walking. Hopefully he will decide to tomorrow. By the way, can I just point out right now that I have sturdy boys and they are not light! This couldn't be at a more obnoxious time either because Stephen has been planning to go to a seminar this weekend in Boise for work. Oh me, oh my.

Snow

Yesterday I was complaining about snow and what do you know, it's been snowing all day today. I should learn to keep my mouth shut!

Happy Birthday Glen!

Not that I think Glen ever looks at my blog, but I wanted to wish him a happy seventeenth birthday! This is the most recent picture I have of him. It is from the high school's fall play, The Matchmaker. Glen played Baranaby. I don't think he usually wears those kind of clothes, styles his hair like that, or gets kissed by girls... but maybe I'm wrong. :) Anyway, happy birthday Glen! I can't believe you are seventeen. I remember the day you were born. I thought you were the cutest baby to ever exist until I had my own children of course. :)

New Blog

I got tired of my last blogsite so I am trying out this one. If all goes well then this will be the one I make posts on from now on. I will let you know.
