First Talk

Vance gave his first talk in primary today. He did a good job. He was only a little nervous and shy.
It's amazing how fast kids grow. He loves, loves Sunbeams! Now if we can get Tanner to love nursery as much as Vance loves Sunbeams and loved nursery... :)

Swimming

Vance has been wanting to go swimming everyday this week so he helped me pick out a pool at the store this morning and him and Tanner played a good chunk of the afternoon it it. Here are some pictures I took.

Our Little Garden

My Mom set me up with this garden on my birthday. Isn't it cute? The great thing about these raised gardens is that you can make them as big as you want or as small as you want so it works perfectly in my little square of dirt that I had in my backyard and a HUGE plus is that I can take it when we move- great for renters! Anyway, all I had to do was buy the seeds and plant away since my parents did all the work for me. :) Tanner thinks it is his job to water the garden. My peas are coming along great! (so are the weeds outside of the box...)

Weekend

I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. We did. It was Stephen's first vacation day since he got his new job. :) Now it is back to the normal routine. Check out the boys and Jillian in the pool at Grandma Porter's house.

Holly and Jillian

Holly and Jillian are visiting my parents and lucky us, we live not too far away for them to come spend a day with us too! We took the boys and Jilly out for a little stroll this morning.
Might I add that it is much easier to push Tanner and Jillian in the double stroller over Tanner and Vance. What is that? About a 20 pound difference or so...
Yay! We love Holly and Jilly.

Purple Cows

We were having a purple day at our house. I made the boys Purple Cows and they enjoyed them so much I thought I'd share pictures.

Who likes feeling left out?

No one likes to be left out of things, right? This would be Vance not wanting to be left out after we've sent him to bed, camped out at the top of the stairs while Stephen and I were downstairs visiting. He knew we'd send him to bed if we saw or heard him so he just made himself comfortable and fell asleep there.

Last weekend I didn't want to be left out. I had already seen my brother and sister's play, but Holly was in town and my entire family but me went on Friday night to it and so on Saturday I joined them. It was the first time we'd all been at a play together in a long, long time- at least since I've graduated and probably longer. Anyway, I wasn't sure if the opportunity for us all to be together for a play would happen again so off I went. It was a lot of fun. You can see a picture and read a little about it from my Dad's blog here. I didn't have to go to the bathroom even though I look like I do with the way I'm standing in the picture.

Vance and speech

It is easy to forget how much children grow and how much they learn. Check out this post from last May. Vance has gotten much better with his speech. We were finally able to start up speech again. He hasn't gone since we moved (mostly for things out of my hands). He is leaps and bounds ahead of where he was last year and I imagine I'll say the same in another year too.

Vance was repeating me, but I'm sure you noticed how silly he was being. I guess I can't ask for everything.

You know you are from a small town...

You know you come from a small town if
There are no traffic lights in your town.
Your husband's graduating class is bigger than your entire high school (freshman-senior).
You can name everyone in your graduating class.
There is no Wal-Mart, heck there is barely a small grocery store at all!
You have to drive 20 minutes to any mall, 60 for a decent mall.
Your town has an annual "Community Days" where they show their community pride.

What is Community Days? Well, there are different things that go on and it is an excuse for a small town to show there pride. There's a "Miss Smalltown" pageant. On Saturday there is what they call a "Fun Run" (5K and 10K), but if you are like me that is an oxymoron. My mom has done the 5k a handful of times because she is awesome like that. There's a breakfast (I've never attended that), and a parade that goes up one street and down the other. We took the boys to it this year and last year. They had a good time waving and getting candy. Vance actually sat on my lap and waved. The only time he got up was to get candy. I was impressed. Tanner waved too and got way sticky (he's checking out his sticky hand in his picture). When we're lucky a play falls into that same weekend. (and as you can tell from previous posts that a highlight for my family)

Once Upon A Mattress

We spent the weekend at my parents. We went to the small town parade, the high school play my younger brother and sister were in and celebrated Mother's Day with my family. I'll try to remember to post pictures of the boys from the weekend later.
We enjoyed the play. They did "Once Upon a Mattress". I don't know how familiar anyone is to this play, but it is super funny!

Rose was the cutest Lady in Waiting on the stage (I know I am biased). She is in the navy blue dress. Glen is a senior so this is his last play. He was a mute King (one of the leads). He had the funniest part in the entire play. I'm not just saying that because he is my brother either (even though we did already establish that I am biased.) He he is below. *Side Note my mom sewed most of that costume.

And the last picture is all of us minus Holly. She'll be in town next weekend to see it. You'll love it! Eric, Glen, Rose, and Me!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you wonderful Mother's! I've been blessed to know and be a part of many wonderful Mother's in my life. I hope you had a wonderful day. Here I am with my Mom enjoying the day. We were in town for my brother and sister's high school play. I'll post some pictures of that tomorrow. (so funny!)

Tired Tanner

My boys are early risers. The majority of the time they are both up by 7 am. They've both been that ways since they were newborns so I am used to it. However, when they are both up before 6 am as they were this morning, I get seriously annoyed. Tanner hasn't taken a morning nap for a long time, but apparently I should have put him down for one this morning. I went into the kitchen to do some dishes leaving the boys with a snack and a movie and when I looked over at Tanner this is what I saw! He was completely out. It made me chuckle because his hand is in the bag of teddy grahams and he has crumbs on his face. Vance was not being quite by any stretch of the imagination, but poor Tanner was so tired! He napped like that for about 40 minutes before he woke up.

I enjoy listening to conversations that Vance and Tanner have with each other. They are always fairly short. Either one of them makes the other mad, one ignores the other, or one loses interest in the conversation. Here is one from this morning (after Tanner had napped)

Tanner: Wall-E? (meaning he wants to watch Wall-E)
Vance: No, Tanner. Wall-E's in the car.

At which point Tanner turned to me for what he wanted. Vance was right. Wall-E was in our dvd player in the car. (what Vance didn't know was that the car was in the garage because Stephen has found someone to carpool with to work. Yay!)

Anyway, if all of this wasn't enough cuteness then I don't know what is.

Steady

Nothing exciting nor tragic has been going on in our lives lately which is more than okay with me, but it does leave little to blog about. Stephen carpooled with someone to work on Saturday and so the boys and I took advantage of having a car and went to visit my parents. My mom had a rocking chair on her porch, but it was getting to be a crowded place to be so I took it off my hands and put it on my empty porch. We are enjoying it. I tried to get a better picture of Vance on it, but he is so busy rocking that I can't ever get a good one.

Oh, if anyone is interested I am now a primary teacher (8 turning 9 class) at church. That was the class they originally called me to in my last ward, but then moved me to the Sunbeams so I guess I'm getting my chance to teach that age now.

Hello

I have been quite the boring blogger this week, haven't I? We're still here doing our thing. I really don't have anything to blog about and I haven't taken a ton of pictures this week, but I thought I would post something so anyone checking on us wouldn't have to see my face on the top of the page anymore. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Stephen is working tomorrow. I think that should be outlawed, but I suppose if my car broke down on a Saturday I would be pretty upset if no place was open to fix it...
