Remembering 9/11/01

I thought I would take a brief moment and reminisce about my September 11, 2001 experience. I had started my first semester of college (maybe a week into it if that). I went to my 8 o'clock class where the professor asked if anyone had heard about the World Trade Center (I hadn't). I went home immediately after that class since I had a break and a roommate who had also just got home from a class had just turned the tv on and we watched the footage over and over and when they got new footage we'd watch that over and over like a train wreck you can't look away from. I remember feeling so bad for all of the victims and their families, I remember worrying about what this meant as far as a war in our future (especially since at the time I was dating someone in boot camp for the Marines-selfish, I know). I was so grateful for the knowledge that God loves us and is watching over us. I remember feeling hope among the chaos and worry. What do you remember?

I was in my car on my way home from cleaning the Richards building on campus and I was annoyed that I couldn't find any music on the radio. I didn't listen to what the dee-jays were saying. I got home and my roommate's mom called and told me to wake her up. I did and she came out and turned on the tv and we sat and watched the second plane fly into the World Trade Center. Pretty scary. I must not have had classes that day because I remember watching tv for a good chunk of the day.

I was sick and home from work watching TV. When I saw the second plane hit, I couldn't believe it was real. I was really worried about Stephen in Texas and Kimberly in Venezuela on their missions and how this would affect them, especially since I couldn't call them.

I was driving to work when I heard about a plane hitting the World Trade Center. There was not much information and it sounded as if it were a small plane. When I got to work I looked at a news site on the computer and when I saw the pictures I knew that it was no small plane. I kept the computer on that web site most of the day and tried to keep my employees updated as everyone wanted to know what was happening.

I was watching the Puc kids because Ed & Sandy were in Philadelphia at a photography convention. Sandy called me and told me to turn on the TV. She woke me up when she called so I didn't understand at first what I was watching. I saw the 2nd tower fall. It was so surreal. I was just glued to the TV all day while trying to keep the kids occupied elsewhere. It is definitely one of those things you don't forget.
